What is on the Global Directory

The Global Directory option on the Central Manager page allows you to search for configured users in any office linked to the Central Management Console.

Each regional or VCX Connect office has its own local user directory. By default, a regional office (and its branch offices, if any) cannot view the user directory on another regional office. Similarly, a VCX Connect office cannot view the user directory on another VCX Connect office. If you want to allow users on one region (or VCX Connect office) to see the user directory on another region (or VCX Connect office), you can add the second directory to the first. All branch offices that are configured under a regional office automatically have access to all user directories on that regional office.

You can search using first or last name, phone extension, or site ID or name. Once you find the user, you can launch the VCX Administrator provisioning application for the site where the user is configured.

To search for a user:

(1)On the Central Manager interface, ensure that the Global Directory menu option is selected.
The Global Directory Search Criteria page appears.

(2)End users can be searched for by using five criteria: last name, first name, extension, site ID, or site name. You can use one or more of these methods to narrow your search results. You can truncate search criteria, and entries are not case-sensitive. For example, you can enter "it" instead of Smith for the last name. All last names containing the sequence "it" are returned.
Type unique descriptors for one of more of the search criteria using the descriptions below:

lLast Name Contains— Enter the entire or part of the user's last name. For example, if you entered smith, Sm, or it any last name containing these characters are returned.

lFirst Name Contains— Enter the entire or part of the user's first name. For example, if you entered john or Jo any first name containing these characters are returned.

lExtension Contains— Enter the entire or part of the user's phone extension such as 1101.

lSite Id Contains— Enter the unique ID assigned to a region.

lSite Name Contains— Enter the unique name assigned to a specific site.

(3)Click Search.
The search results are listed beneath the Global Directory Search Results heading.
To launch the VCX Administrator provisioning application for the site where a user is configured, click the link in the Site Name column for the appropriate user.
